Situated on the Pristine Dhaalu Atoll, The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort Sets a New Benchmark for Contemporary Luxury in the Indian Ocean.
ABU DHABI 23 JANUARY 2017: – St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ:MAR), announced the debut of The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, the first of the St. Regis brand’s iconic resorts to take home on its own private island. Owned by Residency Resorts Malé Private Limited, the property unveils a new dimension of innovative design and tropical luxury in one of the world’s most coveted destinations. The opening in the Maldives marks the 15th St. Regis resort, following exquisite destinations from Bali to Bal Harbour.
“We are thrilled to debut The St. Regis Maldives – an incredible addition to our expanding collection of resorts in one of the world’s most spellbinding destinations,” said Lisa Holladay, Global Brand Leader, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts. “Located on the unspoiled Dhaalu Atoll, the design reflects a contemporary aesthetic and exemplary attention to detail, redefining the concept of private island luxury.”
Rajeev Menon, Chief Operating Officer, Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC), Marriott International, added, “It is exciting to launch the St. Regis brand in one of the most sought after holiday destinations. As the 15th St. Regis hotel in Asia, following the successful openings of St. Regis in Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi last year, we are delighted to grow the brand distinguished by its anticipatory and bespoke service that goes above and beyond.”
Breathtaking aerial views of the 22 acres Vommuli Island, tucked into the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, are first to greet guests of The St. Regis Maldives as they arrive from Malé by seaplane. Designed with great respect to its natural surroundings by WOW Architects and Warner Wong Design, the resort is surrounded by a large ‘House Reef’ and the island defined by several distinct ecological areas: lagoon, beach, coastal and jungle. The 77 island and overwater villa accommodations, each with a private pool, are peppered throughout these areas, with each offering unique activities and amenities. The lagoon boasts a water amphitheater and The Iridium Spa; the beach area includes two signature beachfront restaurants; the jungle houses a recreational center and a pop-up café; and the coastal zone provides a dive center and a signature bar. Woven together by pathways that feature seasonal work from artists in residence and pop-up installations that use locally sourced objects and materials, the lush and expansive resort surroundings deliver luxurious island living to the most discerning global travelers.
A highlight among the resort’s transcendent villas, the Astor Estate, offers the most remarkable amenities. As the largest three-bedroom overwater villa in the Maldives, covering 16,500 square feet, guests of the estate enjoy a dedicated St. Regis Butler, a hallmark of the brand, who provides around-the-clock customized services. The suite also includes a 1,000 square feet infinity pool, private fitness center, mini-theater, private spa suite and two butler rooms for guests with accompanying support staff.
Offering the most sought-after restorative wellness practices, the resort’s overwater spa provides the latest personalized services curated by Ayurvedic and acupuncture experts. A dedicated Ayurvedic doctor is on-site to provide complimentary consultations, explaining the ancient healing benefits of Ayurveda. Additionally, the spa features six private couple treatment suites, a steam room, sauna and the Blue Hole Pool, the Maldives’ largest heated seawater hydrotherapy pool.
Guests of The St. Regis Maldives are invited to discover Vommuli House, one of the most expansive integrated recreational areas in the country, offering a Children’s Club, a teenagers’ club, a large fitness center, a meditation and yoga studio, outdoor tennis courts and a hair and beauty salon. Spanning two floors, the Boutique at The St. Regis Maldives showcases the latest fashion and accessories while an observatory tower occupies the third floor, offering an ideal place to indulge the dramatic ocean views. The Vommuli Dive and Water Sports Center offers guests the opportunity to enjoy indelible recreation on – or beneath – the sea.
Six distinct dining venues offering distinctive cuisines from Italian to East Asian complement the alluring destination. Underground wine cellar reveals a prestigious selection of exclusive century-old wines. The Wine Director creates unique programs and pairings, bringing the finest vintages to the table. Pop-up restaurant, fashioned from an old shipping container, showcases gourmet street food with a daily changing menu. A beachfront eatery, specializes in custom pizzas, fresh juices and homemade ice cream. At sunset, the resort’s specialty bar concocts the signature Island Mary, the hotel’s take on the original Bloody Mary founded at The St. Regis New York.
To celebrate the St. Regis brand’s debut in the Maldives, the resort is offering a special opening rate from USD 1,771 per villa per night.
